HC-450:  Six Sigma/lean for Health Care Overview

 Overview: What is Six Sigma/lean for Health Care?

  • It is a repeatable methodology that is strategically focused on improving all parts of a health care organization.
  • It improves the efficiency and effectiveness of process that impact the customer (clinical and administrative) and the organization (financial).

 Abstract:

The purpose of the four hour Six Sigma/lean overview is to familiarize health care organizations with:

·        the Six Sigma/lean methodology as it applies to health care

·        quality tools that are included in the methodology

·        successful applications of methodology

·        deciding if Six Sigma/lean is appropriate for their organization

·        training model available through the American Society for Quality – Philadelphia 505 Section

 

Overview Content/Learning Objectives

  • definition of the Six Sigma/lean, Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control methodology as it applies to health care
  • quality tools included in the methodology definition and examples of their application
  • articles published by health care organizations of successful applications of the methodology
  • advantages of the methodology
  • awareness of the Philadelphia Section 505 on site Six Sigma/lean training model for health care organizations

 

Who should attend?

  • Management at all levels, quality staff, and anyone interested in learning more about Six Sigma/lean as it applies to healthcare.

Prerequisites: none

The fees include all materials required for the course.  A morning continental breakfast and lunch are included in the tuition.

This course is available as an ON-SITE presentation, subject to the instructor’s availability.  The only requirement for an on-site course is a minimum enrollment of eight students.  The course content can be customized to fit your unique situation.  The instructor will negotiate on-site training on a case-by-case basis.
